Dr. Gary Anderson,, OD

Dr. Gary A. Anderson, O.D. brings a rich legacy of optometric service to the Grand Rapids community that extends over 45 years of practice. A proud alumnus of Augustana College (B.A. in Biology) and the Illinois College of Optometry (Doctorate of Optometry, 1979), Dr. Anderson continued the tradition of a practice founded in 1928 by Dr. Clare Grigware, O.D. He is committed to providing personalized eye care, ensuring each patient achieves optimal visual and general health.

With a vast array of contact lens options available, Dr. Anderson emphasizes the importance of customized vision solutions, stating that just as one pair of shoes doesn’t suit every occasion, a single vision correction method cannot meet all visual needs.

Beyond his practice, Dr. Anderson has contributed significantly to global eye care, leading over 40 vision missions with the Lions Clubs across Central and South America, the Caribbean, Mexico, India, and Kenya. His dedication to community service is further exemplified by his 45-year membership with the Grand Rapids Lions Club, past president of the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired Board of Directors, and volunteer coaching of youth sports.

Family is central to Dr. Anderson’s life; married to his high school sweetheart, Cheryl, since 1979, they are blessed with three children and seven grandchildren, all residing in the Grand Rapids area. His passions include family time, especially attending grandchildren’s events, travelling, running, cycling, swimming, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. Through his Lions Club activities, Dr. Anderson continues to make a significant impact on those in need.
